Nancy, hope you are having a great day.
This is for Sue: The divided brownie pan looked so good I had to buy one. Did everything right by the directions. They stuck all over the place. I took the pan back the next day. In my opinion I think it is a ripoff.

For Diane in Wisconsin wondering what the difference is in pumpkin and pumpkin pie filling. The pie filling is ready to go in the pie shell, sweetened and spices already in it. Canned pumpkin is just that-plain pureed pumpkin and you add your own ingredients for pie filling (eggs, milk, sugar, spices). Hope this helps.

Sue asked about the brownie pans that sell for $20. (And then there is probably shipping of around $8)

If you shop around you may find a buy like I did. I paid $5 at my local Deals store, (which is sort of a dollar and up store) and today I saw them at the Christmas Tree Shop for $8. (and no shipping charges)

They really work great and I love mine.

I have made other cakes besides brownies in it and they all come out the same size and good.

I think my deal was a better one than on TV because mine came with a plastic lid with handles for storage or traveling with.

I also purchased the giant silicone cupcake mold that sells for $20 in some stores and on TV, but Deals sells it for $5 also.

Nancy in the 9/25 newsletter Linda NM posted a recipe Rice and Pork Chop Casserole I made this past Sunday. I did it a little differently than the recipe called for. I put it in the Crock Pot on low for about 4 to 5 hours. I have both the cold ones and the new one. It was in the newest one that cooks faster than the older ones. I mixed the rice, dry onion soup, chicken cube in the water and the cream of mushroom soup. Put that in the Pam sprayed crock and then put the pork chops, that were still slightly frozen, down in the rice mixture. The meal was great and it allowed me to go down with my DH to pick up our granddaughter from her father. We are cutting back on how much we eat out now. Hopefully we can in the next year start to eat out when we pick her up.

Years ago I made a recipe by layering rice on the bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Then the next layer was the dry onion soup sprinkled on top of the rice, then half a can of cream of chicken soup mixed with a 1/3 cup of water pouring over the onion soup, then put the salted and peppered chicken on top of the soup mixture and then took the rest of the soup and mixed ¼ cup water water mixing it and poured over the chicken. Covered it with foil and put in a 350º oven for 1½ hours. This was excellent for a Sunday meal also.

To BS in 9/27 newsletter have tired your Quick and Dirty Pot Roast in the slow cooker? It sounds good and I was just wondering if you had. This time of the year I like to try on new recipes. I like to have a slow cooker recipe when my DH is coming home from a business trip. I never know what time he will be home. Also he is on the jury list until the first of the year. You never know when they will let out from that also. I like to save chili and soups for the week-end because I know that they work great in a slow cooker.

This week we are see temperatures in the 70's after have 90's and high 80's.

Everyone have a great day. Nancy and 4 legged associates take care, stay safe and warm.

Evening Nancy and All, Thank you, Nancy, for keeping our church cookbook, "Bread Broken and Shared," listed in your newsletter. And, I also want to thank all who have responded requesting our cookbook. We expect to take delivery by the end of this week in time for our booth at a local festival where we will offer free bottles of water and have our books on display for sale. I would like to add to the description that it contains over 700 recipes.

Thanks Sue for all the good recipes you have submitted. I am enjoying collecting them. Also, Linda in NM, your Pinto Beans recipe sounds wonderful and I will be making it soon. We like all types of beans and they are so healthy for us.

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. It seems that only yesterday we celebrated Labor Day weekend and now here we are at October. The following is an older recipe for a delicious pumpkin-nut loaf I think you would enjoy. You might want to try substituting 3/4 cup cooking oil for the shortening and add 1/2 cup applesauce. The loaf should be nice and moist, but it would probably be a little more dense. My husband likes cakes more dense, as he says, "It gives you something to sink your teeth into." Betty in MS

Pumpkin-Nut Loaf

1 cup shortening
2 3/4 cups sugar
3 eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 (1 lb) can pumpkin puree
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts

Beat shortening until light and fluffy. Add sugar gradually. Beat in eggs. Sift together flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Stir into sugar mixture. Add pumpkin puree and vanilla. Mix until well blended. Fold in nuts; pour into 2 greased 9x5x2 1/2-inch loaf pans. Bake at 350°F for one hour. Makes 2 loaves.
