Venison, Moose Or Elk Roast
3 to 4 lb. Venison, moose or elk roast
1 pkg. Onion soup mix
Heavy duty aluminum foil
1 quart buttermilk
Soak the roast in the buttermilk for at lease 8 hours prior to cooking (in the
refrigeration).
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Place roast on a piece of heavy duty aluminum foil.
Sprinkle dry onion soup mix over roast and bring edges of foil together and seal
Tightly. Place in a shallow roasting pan and bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours. There
will Be ample juice collected inside foil which can be thickened for gravy. You
can also use this same recipe when cooking the roast in a crock pot or slow
cooker.

Powdered buttermilk does not have to be mixed
separately. I just add the powder with my flour and the water with the my other
liquids and let it mix in the batter.
