Buttermilk Bread
1 pound loaf
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons
buttermilk*
1 tablespoons butter or margarine, cut up
2 cups bread flour
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon bread machine yeast
Measure all ingredients into bread machine pan in the order suggested by
manufacturer, adding baking soda with flour. Process on basic/white bread cycle;
use medium/normal crust color setting. Do not use delayed-bake feature. Remove
bread from pan; cool on wire rack. * I always take the dough out of the machine
after the 1st rising, put in a bread pan, cover and let rise 30 min. I then bake
it for 30 ? 45 min. @ 350?F.

Powdered buttermilk does not have to be mixed
separately. I just add the powder with my flour and the water with the my other
liquids and let it mix in the batter.
