Buttermilk Cake Brownies
1 c. margarine
1 c. water
1/4 c. cocoa
2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. soda
2 tsp. vanilla
Mix margarine, water, cocoa in large pan and bring to boil.
Remove from heat. Mix flour, sugar, salt, and add to above
mixture, stirring fast by hand until mixed. Add eggs and
beat well. Add buttermilk and soda and vanilla; mix. Bake in
greased and floured jelly roll pan at 375 degrees for 18-22
minutes.
Frosting:
1 stick margarine
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. buttermilk
1 box sifted powdered sugar
1 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Bring margarine, cocoa, and buttermilk to a boil. Remove
from heat and beat in powdered sugar. Add vanilla. Frost as
soon as cake is removed from oven.
