For desertbloom in NV
Tamale Pie
1 c. chopped onion
1 c. chopped green pepper
1 lb. ground beef
2 - 8 oz. cans tomato sauce
12 oz whole kernel corn (I like shoepeg corn), drained
1 c. chopped olives, green, black or both
1 clove minced garlic
1 t. salt
2-3 tsp. chili powder
dash pepper
1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese
Topping
3/4 c. yellow meal
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. water
1 Tbs. butter
Cook onion, green pepper and meat until browned. Drain well.
Add next 8 ingredients. Simmer 20-25 minutes. Add cheese,
melt. Pour into baking dish.
Mix meal, salt and water,. Cook and stir until thick. Add
butter. Spoon over top of casserole. DO NOT stir into meat.
Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes
