Return to December Recipe Index
Hi to everyone and Happy New Year to you all. In the Jan.
6th newsletter, I noticed a lot of requests for the lard pie
crust recipe to be repeated.. I did not see that particular
recipe either, but I have a similar recipe that I have been
using for over 40 yrs. and it is excellent. My stepmom gave
it to me and everyone loves it.
Lard Pie Crust
Mix till crumbly :
6 c. flour
3 tsp. salt
1 lb. block or container of good lard.
Store this base in a jar in the fridge. When you want to
make your pie, measure a generous cup of this mix , have ice
water ready, add 3 to 4 tablespoons of the ice water per
crust. Mix with a fork till it cleans the sides of the bowl
and forms a ball. Roll out on a floured surface.
