Hello Nancy Landers from snowy NY.. here is a recipe using
lard, hope this is like the one you are looking for..
Can't Fail Flaky Pastry
I have used this recipe for years, and have rolled and
re-rolled the dough, I have never had a tough crust.
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons salt
1 lb. Tenderflake lard
1 tablespoon white vinegar
1 egg, slightly beaten
Cold water (ice cold if possible)
Combine flour and salt. Cut in lard until mixture resembles
coarse meal with a few larger pieces. In a measuring cup,
combine vinegar and egg. Add water to make 1 cup. Gradually
add to lard mixture, stirring with a fork. Gather into a
ball, wrap and refrigerate or freeze until ready to use.
YIELD:- 6 pie shells OR 3 double crust pies.
