For Barbara, in Wentzville Mo. who asked for bean recipes for her son in law Sept. 28).

This is a classic and one of our favorites. My husband's a bean nut as well and begs me to make this soup as soon as the weather starts turning a bit cool. It's very good with beef, but we like it without the meat. Low calorie, high protein and filling.

Hope you can enjoy it!
