To grannym IL requesting the roast beef recipe. It sounds
like the one I submitted. It is in the April 29, 2009 list
of recipes on Nancy's site. I copied it for you and any
others who are not using it. It is a winner:
To Die For Roast
3 pound beef roast (cheaper beef works best)
1 package Hidden Valley ranch dressing mix
1 package brown gravy mix
1 package Italian salad dressing mix
1/2 cup water
Remove as much fat as you can from the roast before you put
it in crock pot. Place roast in crock pot. Combine all three
packages of mixes and sprinkle on top of roast. Add the
water. (Note: I flip the roast over a couple of times to get
the gravy mixture on it.) Cook on low 7-9 hours.
My Tips for Success:
After it is cooked, move it to a dish and remove ALL visible
fat and dispose of it. Put the lean meat in a container and
refrigerate. Pour the gravy in a jar and refrigerate. The
next day ALL the fat in the gravy will be at the TOP of the
jar and you can just lift it out and toss it! Any fat on the
meat will be visible and you can get it off. Slice, chop or
shred the roast like
you wish and cover it with the gravy. It will be ready to
serve on noodles, mashed potatoes, rice or toast or whatever
you wish! (You would probably use LESS of the gravy for
sandwiches.)
This is So EASY but so GOOD! Just remember to NOT use
expensive beef roasts. Chuck and such is much better. Isn't
THAT great?
This is one of my recipes I rate as Excellent. VERY tried
and true. Hope you find it so!
