Goulash Soup
1 lb. ground beef
1 head cabbage
1 bunch carrots
5 potatoes
1 or 2 onions
1 bay leaf
3 tbsp. paprika
4 tbsp. flour
5 bouillon cubes or a packet of goulash seasoning
1 pinch caraway seed (optional)
Pepper & salt to taste
Sauté onions and ground beef, drain fat, replace in large
pot. Chop cabbage and carrots and potatoes very coarse. Add
to meat and onions. Sauté 5 whole minutes or until well
mixed. Add bay leaf paprika, caraway seed, pepper, salt and
flour; mix well. Add water until all vegetables are covered;
add bouillon cubes or seasoning packet. Let boil until
vegetables are done, serve with spaetzle, bread sticks or
biscuits.
