$$$ Money Saving Grocery Tips $$$
by Sarah Holmes
Greatly reduce your grocery bills with these great tips:
* Groceries on the internet cost around the same price (even AFTER shipping prices) as your local grocery store. Shopping on the internet will also help prevent you from impulse buying. You can buy groceries at http://www.netgrocer.com or
http://www.peapod.com
* Ask for a rain check if the store is out of a sale priced item. Stores are happy to give them to you. It is easily done without a hassle.
* Check your store to see if there are any special programs. Most supermarkets have have special programs for frequent shoppers, or a Baby Club and even senior or college discounts!! There is a special program for everyone!
* If the store is far away, write to the store and ask them to mail you their weekly sales flier. I have a Cubs store mail me their weekly sales brochure every week. I can then look at it and decide if it is worth driving to the store that week.
* Buy coupons from a coupon supplier. By ordering coupons from a coupon supplier, you can receive a large quantity of the coupons you need.
* Make a list before you go to the store. Stick to your shopping list and only allow yourself X amount of impulse buys each trip. Such as, each trip I will allow myself one impulse buy and each of my kids one impulse buy.
* The less people you bring on your trip the less money you will spend.
* Try to only buy items when you see them on sale AND you have a coupon. This will GREATLY increase your savings.
* Organize your coupons in order of the grocery aisles. Ask for a store directory to help you out. This will allow you to save more money because you will be able to find the coupons you need when you need them.
* Print out coupons on the internet for your local grocery store. I live in a small town and there are still stores near me on-line! Visit
http://www.valupage.com Enter your zip code. All the stores in your area will come up on the screen. Choose which store you plan to shop at in the next week. Then print out the list of coupons. It is easy & it should help you save lots of money.
* Join the Freebie Coupon Corner e-mail list. Receive tips every month on how to save money on your grocery bill. You can easily sign up for this listbot at
http://fcc.listbot.com*
PLAN everything. Plan exactly how many times you will eat out each week, what meal you will have, what items you will buy at the store. Excessively plan everything & then plan in for a little fun "unexpected" expenditures too.
* Give both you and your spouse an allowance. Plan how much allowance you will allow each other each week (equal amounts of course) according to your budget. Then you can each spend that money on whatever you want. It will give you each a little freedom to spend your money on items you want.
* Make it a goal to reduce your grocery bill by 50%. Once you have accomplished your goal, plan to go out to eat or celebrate in some other fun way. *
