Good Chocolate Chip Cookies

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2-2/3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (12 oz.) chocolate chips

In bowl for electric mixer, cream butter, shortening and sugars thoroughly. Add eggs and vanilla and beat till fluffy. Add dry ingredients and mix just till blended on low speed. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 350? for 8 to 10 minutes, until golden brown. Remove to wire racks after about 2 minutes. Makes 55 cookies.

NOTE: I have used vanilla chips in these, and also milk chocolate chips for a different flavor. Can also add chopped nuts to either of these recipes, but my family prefers them without.
